Poetry from Music

This poem was inspired by the piece “Madrona” from the cd the best of David Lanz.

A chocolate brown horse
lays in the grass,
a foal is born.
Charcoal black with blue
diamond eyes
blinks in bright light,
tries to stand
but fails.
He tries again,
he stands for half a minute,
tuckered out,
he sleeps.
Wishes and dreams float to him
of one day
bounding,
leaping with his mom
in the green field of blossoms,
and one day
it will come true
but for now
it is a gentle dream
a gentle wish
but it will come true.
